About Pathways

At Pathways, we work to provide a way forward for young adults. Our goal is to see young people who have grown up in orphanages thrive in society. Our team of trained social workers and peer supporters pour their expertise, energy, and hearts into preparing young adults for transition while walking alongside them through their first steps into independence. There are few other programs like ours in the country, and the need is great. Partner with us, and you can be a part of the movement to pave the road and make the journey smooth for these special youth.

Think back to when you first launched your life as a young adult. Did you need help with figuring out how to balance your budget, pay for college, or find your first apartment? Did you have adults in your life who guided you as you made career decisions, navigated a romance, struggled through school, or dealt with health issues? Even under the best of circumstances, most of us stumble through this transition. Maybe you had to move back in with your parents for a time, or a family friend helped you land a job, or a community member gave you some solid advice along the way. The truth is, most of us don’t make it from being teenagers to fully functioning, self-sufficient adults without some hands-on help from those around us!

For some young adults, that help can be hard to come by. Youth who have grown up in institutional, orphanage, or residential settings often find themselves in the launching stage without anyone there to guide them or to fall back on when times get tough. As a result, they are at higher risk for many negative outcomes, including homelessness, crime, physical illness, mental illness, physical and sexual abuse, early mortality, low educational attainment, teenage pregnancy, and suicide.

See how you can join Pathways in making a difference for these struggling young adults. We’d love to have you on our team!
